I know this may seem like a no brainer, but I’m currently a Pomona student. I’m on academic suspension and the conditions for that is basically I just have to take some courses at a CC and do well. I’m just not sure if I really vibe with the culture on campus. Would anyone have any reasons they would pick a school like the University of Alabama over Pomona?
Roll tide. Football and the conservative politics (e.g. Roy Moore) of Alabama. Neither of which Pomona can match.
Interesting that your choice is two schools from different universes. If you want a big state school, mediocre academics, football, and more football, and an easier time of it, roll tide. If you want to challenge yourself, learn, and get a degree that means something, then stay where you are.
As a transfer to Alabama you’d get little if any financial aid so would finances be an issue?
Pomona is a pipeline to prestigious graduate schools and amazing for intellectual students. If the vibe you want is big public university where football is a culture and Greek life is prevalent , Pomona isn’t it.
What happened that you end up on probation? Pomona is one of the most selective universities in the country - did you get overwhelmed? Have a poor secondary background and didn’t anage to catch up? Got wrapped into the perks of Independence and forgot to study? Got ill? Partied to much? Had bad/few study methods? Didn’t dare/know how to use resources at your disposal?
