My son is quite interested in Pomona College; however, we noticed its job placement/internship acceptance rate is about 35% for the last 4-5 years, much lower than what I would expect. Any particular reasons?
That figure looks a lot like a partial result from the survey Pomona’s CDO sends to graduating seniors every April. Once you add in fellowships, grad schools, traveling, and the 13% of “I ain’t looking until I’m outta here…”, there was only 24% of this year’s class that had “not accepted a specific opportunity.” Remember, that was still a month before commencement, and that’s still in the midst of the hiring cycle for many non-profits and research/education organizations. Within my kid’s major, only a third of the students reported firm plans when the survey was conducted, but I heard that nearly 90% had received offers by the time of the department’s graduation luncheon.
Interested in studying ECON/Computer Science. Debating between Tufts and Pomona. Any advice will be much appreciated!
@Ted45211 Did you apply EDI? Pomona has great CS. Don’t know much about Tufts undergrad as I was a medical student there. Interested where you ended up applying.
My daughter graduated 3 years ago with an economics major and math minor, or mathematical economics, or something like that, and she had 3 job offers of $80,000-90,000 when she graduated. A lot of it depends on your major.
