I would like to know if the default plan (16 meals per week + $160) is a good plan. I don't eat much breakfast. So I am thinking to select 12 meals per week + $240. Is this reasonable? Could some current students comment on the options?

Thanks!

The 12 meals plan is very good, and I know many friends who are in the same boat as you. I highly recommend it, though you might not need $240 in flex. Most people usually find $160 sufficient, but it really depends on your needs. If you eat a lot of snacks, or like food on the go, you could go for the 240.

I’m on the default plan, but even with eating breakfast 3 days a week, I usually have meals left over because I sometimes make lunch/dinner for myself to save time.) Some kids also like to eat out on the weekends, so that might save you a meal or two. But if you ever run out of meals before Sunday, you can use your flex (the 240) at the dining hall, and many students like to use it to eat at Coop Fountain (bagels, sandwiches, burgers, quesadillas, chicken tenders) at least once a week- great for a quick lunch on the go. You can also stock up on drinks, quick breakfast items, and snacks at the Coop Store (next to the cafe) with flex.

hope that helps! If you have any more questions, don’t hesitate to send me a pm. I’m on the orientation committee, so I’ll probably be seeing you soon! :)

Thank you very much for the information. This really helps. I’ll pick up the 12 meals plan.

See you soon!

The new pricing levels are great. Quite a few students seem to be content with sticking with the default 16/160. I’ve settled for the 12/160. I don’t eat breakfast, which leaves 14 meals in the week. I find that I usually miss a meal or two for whatever reason, so the 12 seems to work out well. If you think you’ll want to eat breakfast frequently, the 16 may be a better choice. I’d feel it out the first week or so and go from there.

Definitely get the one with the most flex. If you ever have anyone visit you, or need to flex into dining halls, it’s MUCH cheaper to use flex than cash there. Also the Coop is solid, and you can buy stuff at the coop store too. You’ll run through it pretty quickly, especially if you have fewer meals per week on your plan.
