Poor father looking for best possible education

lol... so I'm about to be 21 in a month, I'm married, and have an 11 month old son. right now I'm going to my local community college, I currently have a 3.7 gpa (which should actually rise when I transfer to university of michigan-dearborn because the music classes that lowered it won't be able to transfer). Since I started going back to school for accounting I've gotten nothing but high 90s in my classes, so don't worry about my gpa rising lol. I'm also just starting my honors program at the school and am about to join phi thetha kappa, the accounting club, and the students of business club. I've heard University of Michigan's Ross School of Business is a great school. My only problem is, our financial situation is very tight even though it does look like my wife may be on the managerial track for her job, but that still will not be enough alone. I would also like to apply for other prestigious schools that would be out of state. So my question is, is there any way possible that this could work (going to an out of state expensive school with a son) or should I just try to get into Ross's business school considering I can drive there from my house if needed.

I know that if given the chance to study at one of the top universities in the country or even universities that aren't so well reknown, I can and will excel later once I get a career and finance won't be a problem then, but I would like to know if it is even POSSIBLE to do this. If it is, I'm reaching for the stars and going for it.

thanks for your help

p.s. sorry if this isn't a very well put together thread, I haven't gotten much sleep lately

if you can get into top schools, some have great financial aid for transfers, like cornell and vanderbilt. i think it’s worth applying to a bunch of places. worst case scenario, you can stay at dearborn, so you’re not left no where.

The most prestigious place for you is wherever works best for you and your wife and your baby. Ross sounds like a great option.

If your wife can keep a good job, Ross sounds like a great option. Even the best aid won’t cover living expenses for a family, relocating and bridging income while she looks for a new job. Ross will give you as much as most top schools.
