Poor Freshman year. Any hope?

Hi,
I’m almost done and I’m finishing freshman year with an UW 3.34 gpa in all honors classes. ( My school only does UW grades)

Math: B-
Spanish:B
History: B+ (Screwed my final paper up which brought grade down from A-
English: A-
Physics: A

I didn’t do any EC’s this year but next year I’m doing Amnesty International, and Mock Trial, and maybe something else. This year I also played Freshman Football.

My question is if I get staright A’s or a 4.0 gpa my next 3 years and get a 2200+ Sat, what are my chances in getting into schools with a caliber like Tufts, Duke, Northeastern(etc.) And more specifically UNC at chapel hill. (Im from Massachusetts)

By the way does senior year factors into your gpa?

Whoa … These grades are not poor. Your expectations may need to be reset. A lot of things happen first semester or first year. Assess what went right and wrong and create a plan with specific and measurable goals

  • spend 2 hours in library or at home each Sunday night studying, for example
  • see teacher for X class on Wednesday, review questions from previous week’s homework and lectures
  • organize weekly study group at Z location for 4 hours with person A, B, and C.
  • do more EC’s to find your true passion

Also, celebrate the fact that you can get A’s in Physics and English … Two different parts of your brain!

You got this.

Thanks so much for the help
