I slid thru hs doing almost no work and GPA is about 3.2
SAT I 800(m) 720(v) 650(w)
SAT II physics - 790
chem - 770
math 1 - 780

Minimal ec
Some schools I am considering

RPI
Carnegie Mellon
Case Western
Rochester
Binghamton
RIT
U Md.
Franklin & Marshall
Drexel

Do I have a better chance getting into an engineering school?

I live in NY and am white male. All help appreciated!!!

Carnegie Mellon: REJECT

RPI- match
Carnegie Mellon- reach
Case Western- low match
U Md.- match
Franklin & Marshall- mid match
Drexel- high match

Moral of the story- Sliding through HS = BAD!

Chance me please. I'll give you an imaginary cookie! ^_^

gaffe are you firefox's apprentice?

haha

That really hurt, branderson925.

I'm gonna go cry in my corner. :'(

It wasn't meant to hurt. You must be simple if you took that as me trying to be offensive.

Just kidding.

There was sarcasm there.

:'( -> :)

Yeah, but it doesn't even make sense if you were being sarcastic. I could see if I feebly tried to insult you or something, but I was just making a note on your harshness.

Uh...

I think my criticism is a little less harsh than firefox's.

Yeah, but your mental capacity may also be lower.

(see now would be the proper time to make that same sarcastic remark, because before you made yourself sound like a moron)

btw im kidding around. i'm not a jerk

:) ........

Retake (10char)

can we get back to the original question

What's your class rank? Do you have an upward trend? Is that GPA weighted or unweighted? Ya..if I don't know the answers to that I can't make a very sufficient judgement. So far though, your chances look pretty good at all your schools save Carnegie Mellon and Case. (CMU is a reach and Case a high match) I think your real strength is not really in the SATs but actually your SAT II's. Those show that you actually learned something and coupled with high grades in math and science you have a decent shot at getting into more selective engineering schools.

my school doesn't rank - the gpa is unweighted - I took honors math and science all 3 years, but non-honors everything else. unofrtunately I don't have an upward trend, my freshman year was my best.
