Ok, Correct me if I'm wrong, which I think I truly am, but, anyway, I have a friend who scored a measely 1760 on the SAT (I didn't me to offend anyone) and a 33 on the ACT. However, most of the schools that he's applying to require SAT II's and that's inevitably on the same report as the SAT I. So, my question is: Wouldn't colleges just take the higher of the two scores, and foregoe the poor (sorry anyone) SAT score, and focus more on the ACT instead? I'm nervous myself cause I may be in the same predicament. Please, someone answer.

As long as he puts the ACT score on his application in place of the SAT, it won't matter either way, they'll simply ignore the SAT I score.

So Chris, even though the SAT I is being mailed, but on his application he only submits (writes down) his ACT score and SAT II's he still has a chance?

Yeah his ACT completely replaces his SAT score...won't make a difference.

Some schools, Duke comes to mind, accept the ACT in lieu of the SAT I and the SAT II. That way they wouldn't have to see the SAT I Score at all.

So in a nutshell, it's just the same as retaking the SAT and doing better, but with the ACT; he did better on the ACT and their taking that better score into consideration. All in all, it does undermine his chances? right? Thanks guys, I appreciate it.

For some schools like yale, the ACT fulfills all requirements (SAT I and SAT IIs)

Hmm... My son is in a similar situation on SAT vrs. ACT, although the disparity between the two scores is slightly less. Still the ACT is definitely higher than the SAT according to their conversion chart (2020 v. 32).

He also has solid SAT II's (780,770,720). In some schools, they recommend or require that the SAT II be submitted (plus we might want to submit them just because they are strong). In this situation, do you list the SAT II and ACT scores on the application yet leave the box for the SAT I blank? Presumably you would need to send in the raw scores from both tests then. Or do you just list everything on the application, and let the admissions people pick and choose?

Another question.....when adcoms consider you, do they actually see the score report sent in to them from ACT or SAT, or do they only see the summary data on the application itself?

Bump. Answer Cami's question.
