Hello all,
I will be going into my senior year of high school this fall and I recently saw my sat subject test scores and saw that I got terrible scores(630 for math 2 and 610 for physics). I kinda saw this coming because I took the tests in early June and I got out of school in May and I didn’t review or anything before the tests, which was a poor decision on my part. I do not think I can retake the subject tests because the next session is in October and I will be retaking the reasoning test during that session(My first time I got CR: 690, M:550, W:690). As you can see math is not exactly my strong suit in standardized tests. However, I would like to become a computer science major and I do really enjoy programming. The two main schools I want to go to are UC Santa Cruz and UC Davis. I know these two schools do not have recommendations for subject tests so that is good for me but I will also be applying to other schools(Uc San Diego, Uc Irvine, Uc Santa Barbara, and Santa Clara University) which do reccomend subject tests for their engineering departments. Would it be a better idea for me to go against the recommendations and not send my subject test scores or just send my poor scores in? Also if I got a 4 or 5 on the AP computer science exam, which I feel like I did, would that help my application and act like a subject test by showing that I am proficient in that area?
