Portal Changed

My Portal changed and it now has “pre-applicant” in the URL, which is quite weird. It’s also asking for a response to a communication from USC. Not sure what to make of this. Has this happened to anyone else?

im applicant-freshman

does it mean anything? I’ve never noticed this before

I forgot to mention all the things that were usually there and my only options are to respond to a communication, sign up for campus tours, and join the mailing list.

@marlow1 can you see what the communication is?

@marlow1 My portal has changed too. I have the same three links. When I click on that “respond to a communication from USC” link, I am asked for my USC ID number. When I enter the ID, it says that the ID is not found in their records. When I re-enter, it shows " Are you ?" After I confirmed yes, it asks for information so that I can join the mailing list.

@Aintnoabc it was the exact same for me, but now its gone back to normal

In the big discussion thread, this problem came up a while ago. Most said it was just a glitch, but there was a theory that the portal changed bc people had been rejected, and so it kicked them out of the applicant system. I don’t know if that was true or not, that’s just what the other thread was saying.

Hey guys - I was obsessing about the portal thing when decisions came out in January, but honestly I don’t think random changes are suggesting anything. Like in January, the portal will only update after letters have all been mailed out - the decisions will only be online on Friday, and I doubt anything will signal an admission before that. Better to just wait and see than keep checking the portal every 5 minutes!!
