My son heard back today he is a finalist for Lewis and Clark. Somewhat confused - a finalist is not a done deal, they still have to apply, get in and interview? How many finalist do they pick for each school?
@chrissie312 No, it’s a nailbiter over here! Of course, cannot ask daughter cause she has a fit, says I am stressing her out, etc. LOL.
@hmcminn Congrats on your son’s finalist status! They choose 20-25 finalists for the 3rd round and then 10-12 are selected to attend usually the night of DAP3 from past experience.
We are from Houston and got the call yesterday about my daughter being a finalist.
Good question and I have the same one
Same for my daughter! Congratulations!!
Do you know anyone else as a finalist from Houston?
@momfromhouston, my daughter is also a finalist from Houston posse!
@momfromhouston Congrats to your daughter on the call and being a finalist!
@golddreamer2021 congrats on NW! I’m from the LA posse too and NW is my top school. I haven’t heard from them yet though, no acceptance nor rejection. Do you think NW emails are still going out?
@gogetta thanks! It’s unlikely… we just had our finalist family meeting today and there were about 25 Northwestern finalists on the call, so I’m assuming they’ve selected them already.
It would be so nice if people stopped posting on the basis of “I’ve heard that…” etc., please! The official communication from Posse contradicts many of these rumors and innuendos. Posse Chicago officially wrote an email on Friday that the decisions would be on the rolling basis, all the way until 11/6. Why would they lie, @soursara12 ?
Correction, the email was sent on Monday, 10/26:
“We will notify you of your application status no later than November 6th. We notify students on a rolling basis, so though you have not yet received an email about your application status, it does not mean that you will not move forward to the third-round of interviews, but rather that we have not yet finished reviewing all applications.”
Since Posse typically selects 25 finalists, there would be no need to have any type of waitlist. They expect about 5 to decline, and even if more decline, applicants do not advance to finalist stage unless they are a fit for the college with which they have been paired. So colleges will just as happily select 10 or 11 from 18 finalists as they will from 20 or 25.
While this year is different, i don’t think that they would select any differently at that level.
There actually is a waitlist, I know because I was put on it haha.
@cinemablues27 What city are you from? Do you know how many others were put on the waitlist?
Yes, she heard! She is a finalist for Posse DC!
Congratulations @Dave100 !
Then it is seems something new for this year. Of course, there are many thing different this year, so I guess that it is par for the course for 2020.
Yeah, I’m still waiting for my email from Posse. I called them and they said wait until the first week of November.
@ThNewman5 what city are you in? I’m in LA and I’m strongly considering applying ED to a non-Posse school on November 1st since I haven’t heard back.
