Korean Student, who majors in Business from Georgia Tech, wants to change the major into political science.

SAT I: 1400/1600, 2020/2400
SAT II: US 610/World 740/Math I 740
High School 3.8/4.0

I mess up my first year. GPA 2.8/4.0
I will take summer class to raise up my GPA, and will take 32 credit next year.
If I get all As, I will get 3.47.

I just want to know whether I would have a chance to transfer with that GPA.

Just give me your thoughts.
Also give me some suggestions.

That GPA will hurt bad. Unless you bust out some serious intangibles we don't know about, your chances look bleak. Sorry.

Those are tough schools to get into. I have close to a 4.0 and my chances at those schools are very slim, so a 2.8-3.47 will not put you in contention. Plus that 3.47 is assuming you get straight A's from now on.

Do schools look at the previous institution? because my school is known for grade deflation. I don't know whether that increases my chance, but...

I am also thinking about applying to U Mich- Ann Arbor.
Do I have a chance there?

And I will describe in my essay how bad I hated my current school. So I do well in the second yr to transfer...

I wouldn't describe how much you hated a school. Those schools aren't going to admit a whiner. Describe what you did wrong and why you think you can correct your mistakes instead. I would also look applying to some less prestigous schools just in case.

Um, well I wouldn't bash your current school but rather suggest why the school wasn't for you, and why the school you're applying to more suits your needs. Don't hate on your current school though.

The reason that I want to transfer is that since my school is tech, it doesn't offer political science major which I am truly interested in. Also, I don't like this 'tech' environment where people talk about math, quantum, etc. And I am planning to go to grad school(International Affiar), so I just want to go to a liberal arts college that offers me different atmosphere that I don't feel in tech.

Like I mentioned above, would you recommend me some schools that have good political science program? schools don't have to be top 25. I don't care whether it is public or private.

Maybe look at flagship state schools. Most larger universities, excluding 'tech' schools, etc. will have decent political science programs. You live in Georgia, right? Have you looked at UGA?

If you prefer larger schools, maybe Florida, Miami, Florida State, Alabama, Kentucky, Auburn, or Tennessee. Or check out the directional schools in your neighboring states.
