Possibility

Hi, what is the possibility of getting into a good college if I didn’t take algebra or earth science in middle school?

Colleges do not care about what you do in Middle school. What is important is your courses in High school.

But now I have less time to take much more advanced classes… I’m worried I won’t be able to get into a good college because of that

Many students at my daughter’s school were able to double up on math to “catch up” and be able to take AP by senior year. It’s doable.

But if I don’t do that will that lessen my chances being that I’m going to be a junior soon?

Depends on your intended major. If you want to do a STEM field, I would try hard to double up so you can take calc senior year. Course rigor does matter for “reach” schools. At my daughter’s school without calc, she wouldn’t have been able to take AP Physics C either.

I know that since I’m very indecisive, i wanna go into the business field (something broad like finance or business administration) or I can go into public relations… what do you believe my chances are

GPA, test scores, ECs?

4.0 both weighted and unweighted and I am in many many EC’s but no sports

Hard to chance without the standardized test scores but you are on your way with your GPA. Definitely focus on your course rigor as much as you can and don’t worry about what courses you can’t get into because of pre-reqs. If you do well on your ACT/SAT you should be a competitive candidate. If you are thinking of finance, try to see if you can take AP stats at some point.

Ok so is a 1400 somewhere to aims towards or is that bad?

I believe that would put your right around the average for NYU.

Ok good! But do back to the beginning do you think not taking algebra and science in middle school may have an affect on my chances? And that when I graduate I’ll most likely have about 6 or 7 AP’s

Middle school really doesn’t matter. High school is when GPA and extracurriculars start to matter.

If you are on-track to reach either Pre-Calc or Calculus by Senior year, then you should be fine except for the most elite/selective schools.
You also want to take Biology/Chemistry and a Physics class by end of Senior year but since your focusing on a Business related major, you do not need Honors/AP in these areas. Not taking Earth Science has no impact on your chances at College.

So I took bio and I take chem next year… senior year physics is not required but I can replace it for an AP science (science is my worst subject so I would not do that lol) so maybe I’ll just take physics but you think it’s better if i take an AP math by senior year? What if I just take honors pre calc?

Depending what colleges you are targeting, Honors Pre-Calc should be fine.

Also my guidance counselor never told me that if I dropped out of es and algebra in middle school that those classes in high school would be considered a regents class. I would have never dropped out now that I have two regents classes

So NYU would be out of the running I guess? What about a college such as Baruch?

Colleges really do not care about middle school.
