Possible ADHD; suggestions?

Hey CC Community! I display many of the symptoms of ADHD, and have displayed them for an extended period of time. I decided to ignore the possibility of ADHD, as a diagnosis would only make my life more complicated. I realize now that it was a stupid decision, and i plan on obtaining a specialist's opinion. What motivated me to seek a proper diagnosis, and if needed, help, was a few threads floating around CC. Certain students also left their ADHD untreated, and their academic work suffered by varying degrees. After getting diagnosed and treated, their academic performance escalated. I'm not trying to blame my problems on ADHD, but if i do have it, and it's effecting my school work, i need to get treated. Over the summer, as a rising junior, i took a practice ACT test and scored a 34, and i believe i can do even better after taking ACT classes. Unfortunately, my performance in the classroom does not reflect my standardized test scores. I frequently forget due dates, misplace various items, fidget, i have trouble focusing in the classroom, etc. Anyway, i'm ranting. Has anyone here had a personal experience with ADHD? If you have, did the treatment help your academic performance, and was the treatment expensive? Also, what are some general suggestions regarding ADHD? I'm not positive that i have ADHD, but i read a list of the symptoms and i can identify with multitudes of them. >_<;; Thanks in advance guys! :3

Choosing to be diagnosed is a personal decision that only you can make, but I should mention that it has been widely publicized that pesticides in your food can trigger ADHD in children and adolescents. It also has an impact on adults, but to a far lesser degree.

Treatment can make a big difference. Getting evaluated is a good idea.

Using a planner and writing down all of your assignment, meetings etc is useful whether or not you have ADHD.
