Possible ND transfer... Need advice

Hello! I am currently a freshman in college. I am a little disappointed in the college I am enrolled in. I was hoping for a challenging college experience especially when paying so much for tuition, but ended up at a school that's not terrible but is definitely not what I thought it was. My classes are pretty much like high school, almost easier, and the focus of many students is partying. Now I am not against partying but I really wish I was in an environment where students have intellectual conversations outside of the classroom. Basically I am just craving a challenging environment where I am surrounded by other motivated students. I am sounding like a total nerd right now I realize.
ANYWAY, getting to the point, I have been looking into schools I may want to transfer to and Notre Dame is the one I keep coming back to. I have read a lot around here about the "family" aspect and also the "work hard, play hard" feel and it just seems like the perfect school. I just am concerned that since my college (University of St. Thomas in St. Paul MN) isn't a top school I may not have a chance of being accepted as a transfer. How much will they look at high school stats? Specifically EC's? Any advice on what I should do to get accepted would be great! Or if you have any suggestions of other colleges I may want to look into. Thank you! (Sorry for rambling) :)

If you haven’t already, look at the transfer section in the ND Admissions website. There are very specific course requirements that cover ND first year requirements that you must complete at your current school in order to be considered. They also consider your college GPA (3.70 is average), HS record, test scores, etc. BTW if you are interested in studying business, you would be out of luck at ND, as they don’t accept transfers into Mendoza.

Yes I have pored over that section of their website  I am concerned because I am taking a class related to my current major (communications/ journalism) which obviously does not fit into their course requirements, so I may be missing a class or two, but I also have AP Credit. I was thinking I should email one of their admissions counselors or something, but it may be a bit too early for that, what do you think?
Also, I had a 4.0 UWGPA 4.36 WGPA in high school, and I think I was number 7 in my class of around 200. I took 6 AP classes, but only did well on my English and Calc AP tests ( Eng: 5/4 Calc: 5), my US and World history and government tests I got a 3. So my high school resume is not bad but it is not outstanding. I am hoping to keep a high GPA in college and I am pursuing a lot of clubs/ organizations that have leadership roles available, and am trying to get involve in some community outreach groups. I feel like my resume doesn’t scream Notre Dame, but I am trying to get to know my professors by going to office hours, participating in class, etc. So I am kind of stuck on what else to do. Any other advice would be great! Thanks! :)

I would definitely get in touch with the transfer admissions people.
