Possible new Health and Wellness Center

The Student Senate passed a resolution that will be sent to the University Board of Trustees. The resolution is to charge students a fee of $20 a semester as well as a $2 increase for each credit hour in order to build a new Health and Wellness Center on campus.

The new Health and Wellness Center will be double the square footage of the current health center and is hoped to be open in two years. With the increase in space, the Health and Wellness Center will be able to house more staff as well as provide exercise and aerobics rooms.

From what I have heard, you have to have an appointment to see a doctor at Thagard when you are sick and they don't allow walk-ins. My own son ended up using TelaDoc: Primary Health Care Via Instant Remote Access: Obesity, Diabetes, Hypertension to get a prescription for antibiotics when he had an ear infection a few weeks ago since he did not want to wait to be treated.

My only problem with this proposal is that current students could be paying for facilities that they may never use.

if it means a larger gym im all for it, the leach is great but man it gets packed especially after thanksgiving lol..i personally have no problem paying 20 a semester, of course thats if they get it done by the time im a junior.

Florida State University's main governing body approved the increase and implementation of several fees for the 2008-2009 school year, including the facility fee of $20 a semester as well as a $2 per credit hour for the construction of a new student health and wellness center and eventual improvements to the Oglesby Student Union.

Fee for new health center approved - News

Outstanding news. The clinic is very similar to what it was when I was a student. It needs upgrading.

this is great news. when do you think a realistic date is for a construction completion date?

Has anyone heard any news on the new center?
