Would it be possible for me to have one teacher as a recommender for the schools I'm applying to early, and then if I don't get into them, can I then change my recommender so that when I apply to those schools again during RD, they'll get new letters from a new teacher?

You can’t reapply to schools you apply early. You are either rejected, meaning you don’t get in (you can’t reapply unless you take a gap year or transfer), or deferred, meaning you go straight into RD round. It is the same application, not a new one. You can’t change your recs.

If you’re not rejected, I believe that you can add recs.

You can certainly have different recommendations for different schools.

@ClassicRockerDad but you can’t remove them for the same school, right? You can add them, but I think it depends on the college (I know a couple that won’t from when I applied last year). You can’t switch them out, just add an additional.

Correct. You can’t subtract because the school already has them in the same file.

Thanks! Yeah, I meant if you were deferred
