Possible to Raise SAT score by 110 in 3 months?

I decided to not attend college this year and wait a year. This means that I will have free time to do whatever I want because I don't have a job and don't need one. I will be reapplying to Iu Bloomington this year and I need to raise my SAT scores to get the Iu Automatic Scholarship. I have a 1230 combined cr + math score but the scholarship requires a 1340. Can I raise my score by 110 points in 3 months? I basically have 3 chances to do so because they only accept SAT scores until January 15.
I took them twice. The first time I didn't study and got 620 on math and 570 on critical reading. That was towards the end of my junior year. When I took it again my senior year, I got 580 on math but 610 on critical reading. I only studied for the critical reading section but not for the math one. Even then I only studied for 30 minutes a day for 1 month before the test.
Since I have all this free time, how many hours should I devote to each day for the SAT. I was thinking maybe 3-4 hours per day? Is that too little or just right? Please help. I really need that scholarship.

If you have 3 months spend around 2 hours a day for 1 months studying vocabulary and math concepts that you don’t understand. Then Spend 2-3 hours for the next 2 months taking practice tests and studying more vocab. Good Luck on the scholarship!

Yes ofcourse you can. From my experience ; I raised my score by 460 points in 2 months . I took a course and did stdied for like 3 hours every couple of days . I think you should focus on Math since improving math score is alot easier than improving CR score .

Gd luck

thanks…any other tips?

@freedomeagle, what books did you use to study from to increase your score so much?

Will actually iam using the (( Manual for the SAT )) from princton review , the blue book , and Barron’s .
When I took the Princton Review prep course they gave me that manual that i mentioned and they said it’s not for sale , so you won’t find it in the Markits . They told me that it’s made especially for the students who take the course , and to be honest ; it’s not that useful without the course .

BTW i still didn’t appear for my second time for the SAT , the 1900 score was on one of the blue book practice tests.

Since my parents don’t have any money, do you think that the SAT books in the library are good enough for me to study from? I need to raise my score on the sat by 110 points only on the cr and math sections. My highest two are 610 for cr and 620 for math. If I study for 5 hours a day for 3 months, how much will my score go up? I have that kind of dedication, so please tell me your opinions.

You really should have no problem raising your score imo. And yes, if your local library is great (like mine), it should have all the books you need.

People here recommend Grubers for those with math scores under 650, and Dr. Chung’s for those over 650 (I have Gruber’s right now, haven’t looked at it thoroughly yet). Dr. Chung has a free PDF ish format on Amazon which I’ll look at when I finish studying for grammar.

For reading, hit the vocab lists and open up your reading horizons. Read the stickied threads on this forum… you’ll find a lot of great info there. :)

If you can seriously study (from an excellent SAT book) for 5 hours a day for 3 months, and stick to that every single day without wavering, then I have no doubt you can raise your sat score by 110.

Honestly, we don’t know your library so we can’t tell you if the SAT study guides there will be good enough. Can you provide a list of SAT books in your library to us?

Their has been a terrible development in my plan. PLEASE click here and read.

I actually raised my score about 400 points in three months. But I studied a lot… Like A LOT. The first two hundred points were relatively easy since I just had to get use to the format and sentence structures of all the problems. The other 200 points was hard. It took me four weeks to break the 2000 mark. My most recent SAT score (from prep class Elite-they say you can add 100-150 points for the real SAT since Elite’s is harder but I’m not counting on that) is 2140. But that’s my first time above 2000 so I’m going to take other tests soon to see if I can be consistent with above 2100.
