I am a junior and I plan to take the Biology subject test (I haven’t decided which biology test just yet) before my senior year starts. I haven’t taken a Biology course since freshmen year and I don’t really remember anything from that class. Has anyone else self studied the entire subject in such a short span of time? Is it possible? What books did you use and how much time per day did you invest in it? Thank you very much
I took AP Bio 10th grade. Took the subject test as a senior (this year). Scored a 790 on the Bio M with maybe three weeks of prep? I personally found it fairly easy even after being out of the class for two years. But I used the Barron’s prep book, which I feel overly prepares you in a good way. Because of my job, I did not invest much time in studying. I simply made sure that I finished all of the chapters and practice tests by the actual test date. Highly recommend the Barron’s book good luck!
Thank you very much! Did your AP Bio class help you significantly?
Once I started reading the book, yes, I remembered a lot of things from the class. Like you though, I couldn’t remember the material on my own, until I needed to apply it to something new. There was nothing in the book that I didn’t know at some point, so I think AP Bio was helpful and definitely gave me comprehensive understanding of the course (I got a 5 on the exam, so it’s possible that the AP exam and SAT Bio test correlate. I recall the subject test being easier than the exam though.)
My son took the Bio E test and was just beginning AP Bio as a senior. He got an 800. He took Bio in 9th so he hadn’t had it in two years. He studied Barron’s and PR. He put in many hrs of studying and knew the books inside out. He studied for about 5 weeks.
Hey! I took biology subject test in january and scored a 700 however i want to improve my score and i have decided to reappear in may. I used both PR and barrons to prepare. However i found there were only 4 practicing tests in them. Can you please tell me any additional practicing material. I found the experiment questions particularly challenging can you suggest how do i improve in that. Please help me out.
@Armagh13 satcrack.net has about 4 practice tests. It doesn’t sound legit but it’s a good website for SAT prep. Should I take both E and M or just one?
@themindinator thanks a lot. You should take only one of them.
@Armagh13 How hard is the test? I have the newest version of Barron’s. Is memorizing that good enough?
