Hello, Im currently a Junior at my CCC and im planning on transfering to UC Berkeley in the fall of 2015.

My IGETC is finished, and I was originally going to major in Linguistics, however, in the last minute I had a change of heart and I was hoping to change majors to computer science. The thing is that I don't have little to none of the pre-reqs for a CS major, and I'm pretty adament in transfering next fall.

The question now is whether I can transfer into UCBs L&S college as a undeclared and then completing the pre-reqs there, declaring the major after I've finished all the pre-reqs. Am I able to do that?

The majority (90%+) of community college transfer applicants complete the A.A., finish all the pre-requisites, and have a 3.75 or higher. Oh, and if you’re applying from an out-of-state community college don’t bother because they get enough cc transfers from in-state. You’re from in-state right?

@PSC2IVY I am an in-state student with a GPA of 3.77

I have already completed my IGETC and I am planning on transfering to UCB into their L&S college; originally as a Linguistics major. With that, I would be undeclared regardless of which field I would want to pursue.

So would it be possible for me to just finish the pre-reqs for CS there at UCB as an undeclared, and then declare it afterward?

So if I transfer as a Linguistics major, in which I have the necessary pre-reqs done, can I take CS as a minor? Then later on, can I make that minor in CS into my second major?

UC-Berkeley is getting ridiculously hard to transfer into. It is becoming a reach even for the in-state community college students who apply with 3.9+. I’d say go ahead and apply and see what happens. I’ve seen straight 4.0s get rejected and 3.5s get in with no EC’s. Hope you get in, really do. Good luck.
