pre-req

hello, i'll be a freshmen this fall.
in two years, i want to transfer to UCB. I'm a comp. sci (L&S) major, are there any classes I must take to be eligible to transfer?

What kind of institution are you attending (CSU, CCC, UC, etc)?

I'll be attending a UC

If you're attending a UC there are no exact articulations from campus to campus, as there is between a CCC and a UC.

You should look into the UC reciprocity agreement, which serves as the GE plan for UC intercampus transfer applicants.

I saw that, but Berkeley apparently has "additional requirements" besides the GE ones. Any ideas how I can find which ones i msut take?

Bump, still can't answer above Q :(

dmission, I am in the same situation except Im goin to CCC instead of a UC. Cuz in CCC its WAY easier to transfer. Since its a popular major. CS (L&S) is a risky major because less than half of the applicants get accepted to that major. If you dont get accepted ur pretty much screwed unless you have another major in mind for (L&S). Also, campus-campus transfer in General is REEALLY hard. So unless you have a 4.0 or 3.83 its pretty much impossible. But the prereqs are here. Undergraduate L&S CS Students | EECS at UC Berkeley
Once again its a REAL hard major. I wouldnt recommend transferring unless you have an alternate major in mind. Hope that helped. I did a lotta research

thanks for the reply.
luckily, from my instituion, UCB accepts above 50% of applicants, and about 46% of applicants for my major. :)

Are you sure? Because at CCC they get first priority to UCB and only 32 percent are accepted. Maybe the info was wrong in your source, cuz my source was from the official universityofcalifornia.org. Im not calling ur sources wrong and mine right but I just dont want you to do all of these prereq's and ruin your chances of the future. By the way, do you have AIM? If so may I add it? Thanks.

I emailed UCB. :) I'm sure they'd be considered reliable sources heh

Either way, I'll do the preqs -- no harm in trying

And sorry, no AIM.

You got a point. Are you a freshman? Which university are you at?

Which university are you in? Some of the prereqs can ONLY be completed at Cal dont forget, but you do those when you attend Cal. You have to take 1 semester of classes at Cal before admitted to ur major. Also dont forget theres the EECS major (electrical engineering and computer science) that gives B.S degree (Bachelor of Science). While the Computer Science (L&S) only gives a B.A degree. (bachelors of arts) If you have decent grades, I'd say you should go for eecs. They have that 5 year program there that combins the B.S with the M.S So you get ur master's degree in 5 years. Thats a plus for the EECS major.

The best way to know is to contact someone from the department that your major is in. They can tell you the prereqs that you need and other information related to your major.

As for GE, it is mostly the same across the UCs but with a few expections. Some of the UCs might require a GE or a course in a specific field which is based on what college you are going to be in. Like L&S requires some courses while another might require different ones. It depends what you are applying for.
