I believe that I articulated my reasoning for wanting to transfer pretty well on the Common App and think that it’s a pretty valid reason. I’m only looking at upper tier schools because I can tough out my situation for two more years if need be, but I’d really prefer to transfer. I also know I’ll probably get rejected by a lot of these schools, I just want to know if my stats are good enough to warrant a look and possibly an acceptance to a few of these places.
Schools I’m looking at:
University of Pennsylvania (Arts and Sciences)
Cornell
Johns Hopkins
Northwestern
WUSTL
Emory
Vanderbilt
Brandeis
Duke
Brown
Columbia
College:
College GPA: 4.0/4.0 over 53 credits
English major and Classics minor
Currently a second semester sophomore
Will need Financial Aid
I’m currently at a university ranked around #50
HS (only had W GPAs, they did not calculate UW):
Secular Studies GPA: 5.07/4.3 (straight A’s and A+’s in all Honors – school did not offer any AP classes)
Jewish Studies GPA: 3.97/4.3 (shows upward trend every year to where I got straight A’s, but was in Regulars)
I had on average 18 classes a semester in high school due to the dual curriculum.
I only took one AP (English Lit) during high school and received a 4 - I self studied.
I was accepted to my current university through an Early Admissions program, which let me skip 12th grade. So I only went to high school for 3 years.
SAT: 2220 (770 CR, 760 W, 690 M)
ACT: 32 (36 E, 34 CR, 32 M, 27 S)
Did not take SAT Subject Tests ever
Extracurriculars: I have a list of all the ones I’ve written on my Common App, but I’d prefer not to post them here.
Recommendations: Two professors I’ve taken twice each (one is an English professor and one is a Math professor). I went to their office hours a lot so they know me quite well, and I received A’s and A+'s from them both.
