Post-Admission

Is anyone else accepted and not guaranteed to go?

Everything that everyone is talking about concerning the post-admission process seems pretty absolute- set on attending FSU. What are my options if I want to wait to hear from other schools (as far away as april)?

I recommend you sign up for housing and pay their depost, but not pay the admissions deposit. You will get your housing priority number, pay $125, and get all but $50 back if you ask for it back before May 1. Go to one of the 4 preview days. Then just pay the admissions deposit by May 1.

I agree with sunnyflorida.
You don't have to pay the admission deposit until May 1. You can sign up for on-campus housing and if you decide not to attend FSU by May 1 you only lose $50 of your deposit or you can wait and find off-campus housing after you decide.

Remember that the May 1 date is a RECIEVE by DATE.. the Admissions Deposit & Orientation Fees must both be paid BEFORE MAY 1 (not postmarked).

Also remember that orientation dates are first come and close as they fill. Some are already almost full. So the sooner you know 100% FSU is the school for you, do the following...

Now that you are accepted, you can do the following:

Pay your admissions deposit at fsu admissions | admission deposit
(must be done to confirm spot in freshmen class)

Register for Orientation at fsu.edu | orientation
(summer orientation dates are first come/first reserve)

Sign up for on-campus housing at Florida State University Housing
(space/assignments are first come by priority number)

Go to fsu.edu | newnole and read the pre-orientation section to learn about completing your health/immunization information & online insurance waiver which need to be done before orientation

Sign up to possibly attend a preview at fsu admissions | preview | accepted student preview

TO the OP, orientation dates are by major/area of interest and NOT jsut first come/first serve. Everyone needs to attend orientation, and there is a place for everyone. When you sign in to register for orientation, only the dates approriate to YOU are offered, and new sections of courses open as the orientations proceed. And summer admits have dates sooner than fall admits. So as you wait, you loose some flexibility, but you are not shut out of orientation totally. And the earliest dates may not be open to you anyway. So you have some time. I would suggest a preview. There is one already this week-22nd!

^^^^
Actually, Orientation is first come first serve so I'd advise signing up ASAP. Everyone is forced to attend so there will always be a spot, however, some of the best class slots may fill in the earlier Orientations. I do believe they reserve classes for the later Orientations but they may not be at the best time of day.

Q: If I’m a Fine Arts major (Film, Music or Dance) or in the First-Year Abroad Program, do I register for a specific orientation session?

A: Yes, Film, Music, and Dance Majors as well as those participating in First-Year Abroad have specific orientation sessions, which they must attend. --->Theater students, like all other majors, are able to attend any of our sessions. <---When registering and paying for your session online, the orientation registration system will show you only the date options that meet the needs of your major. Should you have questions or need additional help, please contact the Office of New Student & Family Programs at 850/644-2785.
