Post-bac aid/scholarship?

Hi,
I will starting a post-bac at a new college taking undergrad classes during the spring 2010 semester. I already graduated from college with a bachelor's in science, however, I will be going back to school during the spring as a full time student in order to raise my GPA.
I will not be receiving any financial aid because I already attended undergrad for four years and I have my bachelors degree. Tuition for next semester is going to be very expensive since I have to pay all of it out of pocket. (considering I received HALF my tuition in grants during undergrad and i am currently trying to pay back loans).
So, where and how can I receive some sort of aid to help pay my tuition for next semester? Any scholarships and/or financial aid that I can apply for?
ANY feedback is greatly appreciated!
If it helps, I am a NY resident trying to go to medical school.
Thank you

I’m not aware of anyone offering the kind of assistance that you’re desiring.

People whom I knew who wanted to do similar things either went to school part-time while working a full time job or they entered a science-related masters program (typically on fellowship), and got stellar grades and then applied to med school.

There are no scholarships offered?

I am not aware of any. Only Stafford loans are available for Post Bach, unless the school offers scholarships for Post Bach. I doubt any allow institutional need based aid to go to Post Bach students, and they are not eligible for federal grants or for work study.

Have you reached your undergrad Stafford loan limit? If not, you will be eligible for a limited amount of Stafford loans - either $10,500 or $12,500 for the calendar year from the time you begin the Post Bach program (depending on your program of studies). You would need to submit paperwork to your financial aid office - check their website for Post Bach requirements.

While going back to school, can’t you defer your current student loans?

Yes, as long as the student is at least half time.
