Post-Baccalaureate/Second Bachelor's

I am highly interested in the above mentioned programs. I have B.S. in Biology, but would like to pursue civil engineering. Does anyone have experience/knowledge about these programs at IIT, other than what is given on the website?

The post-baccalaureate is intended to prepare someone for admission to a graduate program who does not have adequate undergraduate preparation for the program of study. Given the complexity and requirements in engineering a second bachelor’s actually makes more sense because you would not get all of the necessary studies in the shorter time frame of a post-baccalaureate. A second bachelor’s requires 45 hours minimum, but IIT’s Civil Engineering curriculum requires 69 hours of Civil and Mechanical Engineering courses plus calculus and physics as necessary. I’m an IIT faculty member and while I don’t teach in civil engineering nor am I speaking officially on behalf of the university, I think it is a great program and the reputation is that the students in the program are very successful in their careers. It’s a hard program–no question about that–but if it wasn’t hard it wouldn’t be worth much, would it? When I taught Navy ROTC at IIT several of my students were in the program and they were all very pleased with it.
