Most probably have been made, but not mine at least. The interview cometh!

Worldshopper: You got one? Next week? My interviewer told me that Pton wanted the write-ups this week.. hmm.. maybe you are a special case and they wait on yours...

Yes, that is what his message said -- something about getting together to talk next week. I tried to call him back but it was his work number and he has already left for the day.

Hmm... Well, maybe your a stand-out case, b/c my guy said the deadline was this week. Then again I don't profess to know everything.

Um, no I didn't need to bring anything. I met at his house and we just talked. It went very well and he was very friendly. He even showed me the form that he had to fill out for the Uni and what exactly he had to ask of me. So, it worked to my favour.

The interview IMO is just a PR thing. Ptn wants to connect locally with their applicants. However, if I am rejected I will think the interview is a little cruel considering Ptn has probably already made their decisions.

But they need time to process the results from the interviews, don't they?
Urgh. I'll be so freaked out when everyone else around me starts getting their decisions a week before me.

Well, I know alot of people got their interviews weeks before me. So, maybe they reviewed their files already and will be able to quickly process our interview write-ups when they come in. Hopefully, a late review of our files will not hurt us.

I think it is important to remember the role of the interview in the admissions process. While I am not an expert I do believe that for P, the interview report is used to confirm a decision, rather than make it (expect perhaps for a very, very few applicants). If you are an academic and ec 1 or 2, or a recruited athlete or other special case and the adcom has already decided yes, the report would have to contain a very LARGE red flag to change the outcome. Conversely, if an adcom had decided you would be deferred, the report would have to provide highly compelling evidence that was not contained in your app, and even then would likely result in lengthy discussion with a slim chance of the decision being changed. They can always send you a yes in the spring, and while it may be that they now would like to admit you, there is a limit to the number of yes letters they can send in December.

This is why I think the deadline can be so late. Most reports will be in well in advance and for the handful of later ones it is a simple process to determine whether or not the report supports the decision made or contains such outrageously different info that a review is warranted (and even then they will have to weigh the subjective nature of alumni interviews).

At least this is the advice I gave my D on Friday :-)

My interviewer said the reason my interview was so late was because that Pton had alot of ED apps this year and did not have enoguh interviewers so they had to call up more people, and that took some time. Not if this changes your assumption, but that is the story I got.
