post the best piano songs

Granados' Danza Espanola #2

(not the 'greatest' but i like it)

Then there's an Etude in E by Chopin, exact name escapes me right now... AMAZING stuff.

Pachelbel's Canon is possibly the single most overplayed and overrated classical piano song ever. It's extremely simple (which seems to be the trend for popular music nowadays anyway) and extremely boring. Anybody who has actually listened to any other classical paino piece will realize this.

Oh, and I find it hard to believe that nobody has mentioned Rachmaninov's Piano Concerto No. 3.

Hey guys... idea: why not post links to MIDI files of your recommendations ;)

Just google it and post the direct link to the file. I know, I know I can do it myself but hey :p

CAnon is pretty overplayed. I've never had the chance to play it myself, but I've heard it at almost (read: every) piano concert that I've participated in.
I personally like to play Chopin's Polonaise in Ab.
Does anyone like (or have played) Tchaikovsky's piano concerto #1?

Um, there are many variations on the Canon in D that are neither simple nor boring.

Adding my vote for Rachmaninov's Piano Concerto #3.

As far as modern music goes, try Warmen's "Salieri Strikes Back", Sonata Arctica's "Shamandalie", or any of the solo stuff from Jens Johanssen (keyboardist for Stratovarius).

EDIT: I've tabbed out Warmen's "Salieri Strikes Back" on TabIt (www.tabit.net), I'm gonna see if I can export it as MIDI and try to link it up.

EDIT²: Got it, http://home.comcast.net/~thund3rstone/Warmen_-_Salieri_Strikes_Back.mid

Right click, save as if it won't open.

EDIT³: I originally learned this song on guitar, which is pretty incredible as well if we have any guitarists out there.
