just about all the beethoven piano sonatas are good. but i particularly like "les adieux"

Mussorgsky's Pictures at an Exhibition.

Canon is a classic

^^^ I agree. I'm not well versed in classical music, but Pachelbel's
is one of the most beautiful songs a piano can produce.

In pop music, I like the Billy Joel/Elton John brand of piano songs.

Does anyone know where I can get a good version of Canon? Not extremely hard (since I'm going to teach myslef), but nothing to easy. (As a gauge of my level: I most recently learned Schumann's Traumerei, and I've also learned Schumann's Arabeske, and Bach's Solfeggio in C minor)

Bach's Goldberg Variations
orginally for a harp, but the piano version is still nice.

Moonlight Sonata. Sorry but I've always been in love with that one. Anything from The Pianist. Also the one at the beginning of The Truman Show.

In terms of classical piano, Moonlight 3rd is amazing, but unbelievably difficult. It annoys me when I hear kids at competitions butcher that piece. I also like Grieg's Concerto in A minor (the really famous one), Liszt's Mephisto Waltz, and Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue. As for modern/pop piano, I dunno. Billy Joel's all right, and I recently heard an interesting rendition of Walking in Memphis for piano.

I am very fond of Billy Joel's Waltz #1 (Nunley's Carousel)

It has to be Piano Man.

Pictures at an Exhibition is good, even though hearing the promenade over and over again can be tiring. I personally like the most famous Chopin "polonaise" even though I despise him. All of Liszt's Hungarian Rhapsodies are pretty nice and incredibly difficult (which was his intent).

try this one out, it doesn't get any better ;-)

fantaisie impromptu

Khachaturian - Toccata
Chopin - Fantasie Impromptu

rhapsody in blue - gershwin

and in agreement with those above, definitely fantasie impromptu

fur elise, yep

if you want something modern...piano + acoustic + vocals....Cold Play - The Scientist

Ravel's Gaspard de la Nuit

sounds cool, looks even cooler, but insanely difficult to play (I'm gonna try this summer...)

Although these songs are really simple, a couple of piano songs from the movie Les Fableaux Destins d'Am

Sonata No. 8 "Pathetique" 2nd Movement by Beethoven

Humoreske (or "Humoresque") by Dvorak

OMG I have grown to fallen in love playing those songs.
