Post-Undergraduate Student Help

Hi.

I am a student that graduated in May with a Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Michigan. I did wonderful in high school and planned to attend the university before going on to medical school. A lot of hardships during my undergraduate experience led to me graduating with a poor GPA: a little over a 2.5. I know that medical school is not a possibility at this point, and now I am very confused as to what my next step should be. I want to continue with my education, and hopefully work towards being competitive enough to get into a program. However, it seems that my entire educational career is now completely roadblocked by my GPA, and I do not know how to continue. Many master's programs require at least a 3.0 GPA just to apply, and I feel that I can now go nowhere.

Can anyone give me any advice on the sequence of events I should now pursue? Thank you.

What do you truly want to do? If it is to be come a doctor, did you know that for D.O. (Doctor of Osteopathy) schools they will do grade replacement? That is, if you took Bio and got a C, and then took it again and got an A, they would count the A and not the C. That would take time and money but is a possibility.

I would talk to your advisor/favorite professor/medical advisor in your major and talk to them about the future. Could you take some post-bacc courses and do well in them to show you can perform at a high level?

If you are interested in a health profession, are there others that you could pursue?

Also, have you dealt with your hardships? If they are not resolved then you are not going to do well in future classes.
