Post your Fall 2011 schedules here.

That’s awesome! And you sign up for the classes you need help with.

Anberlin,
It’s second year physics major :)

BTW, TO YOU ALL TAKING FELDWINN FOR CHEM 1A, DON’T!
She’s the hardest chem teacher lol…better off with van koppen when she’s in.

CLAS is first come first serve. Google CLAS UCSB and sign up. You can also crash them, i doubt that it’s full, and if it is, just sit on the floor

dam. i wanna switch chem classes, but all other sections are full!

and how is chem1a? is it graded on a curve? how hard is it compared to chem H or ap chem?

A little too late for that, haha. I’m just gonna have to study my butt off and use CLAS. Any tips though (in general, for Chem 1A, or specific, Feldwinn’s class, would be useful)? >.<

ugh so annoying! I don’t even like chem! :(

Lol. I’ve never taken a day of Chem in my life, so this class is gonna be a wake-up call. Buuuuttt I already started reading the textbook, so it’s all good :)

you havent? oh then yeah maybe you should peruse the book a little :(

Trying haha. Maybe I’ll try some of the book problems >.<

Feldwinn is really strict, her test is reallly long and impossible to finish if you don’t know your answers or try to work it out. Usually, her test average ranges from 55-65%, and not many people get above 90% on it. You can actually try to crash other chem courses from other professors. Just attend their lectures, and they’ll let you know what to do. You might be be the first choice, so keep your eyes open. When registration 3 opens, watch other chem courses regularly. 300+ people who are freshmen, surely someone will switch out. Just check it every 15 mins or so when the registration window is open.

As for tips, don’t fall behind. You it will be really really hard to get back on track. If you have time, do the not-required book problems. They will appear on the test. There are so many book problems+webwork (aleks) that other students tend to skip the book problems (95% i’d say).
As on the test, try to scram in every bit you can. Work it out, she gives partial credit. Don’t try to check every calculation, it doesn’t worth that many points. And ofc, since you can’t finish the test itself, you must work efficiently. I’m not really kidding about the last part, you think you might be able to work it out within 5 mins, or you think that you have an idea to try and it probably will work for a certain problem, skip it!

Thanks for the advice!
If I try to sign up for another Chem class during Pass 3, I would have to drop my current Chem class and if it doesn’t work out, then I would be stuck without a Chem class. Or, Plan B, I can take every bit of your advice and stick it out.

Chem - 142A
Chem - 112A
Chem - 110L
EnvS - 187

12 units… ugh

how does signing up for classes at orientation work? mine is thursday. is there an order you are put in when signing up?

tfizzle- are you a chem major or something? haha. is 12 units a lot for you?

jack- if you somehow read this before then, no. everyone tries to get classes at 2:15!! it was terrible.

Biochemistry major. & yes, 12 units can be very challenging.
