Notes: As far as the Media Studies major goes, there are four prereqs and I have already completed one through community college courses (Political Science 1). I think I can also get rid of a second prereq if they let me substitute Journalism 100 for Media Studies 10 (which I was told not to take during the first semester). The last prereq, which is history, isn’t offered this semester. Also, I have already completed my SBS breadth and my BS breadth. Also, I was hoping to take Media Studies 104B instead of American Studies 10 but you need to have taken Media Studies 10 or the consent of the professor. I was wondering, how I get him to consent and where I can get his e-mail or something.

Might as well contribute, in case I am making any major mistakes…

Freshman
College of Engineering
EECS (leaning towards Option IV [CS focus], but will be open to change)

Math 53 - Phase I (did pretty well in AP Calc BC, find out exam on Thurs)
Physics 7A - Phase I (no experience with Physics, hope I’ll be ok)
CompSci 3S - Phase I (no programming exp in high school, except BASIC programming in TI-84 :P)
R&C “B” List - Philosophy 6 - Phase II (assuming I get at least 5 on IB English HL)

Units = 4 + 4 + (2 to 5 depending on how hard I work in self-study) + 4 = 14 to 17 Units

Notes: Feeling pretty good about this schedule. Best case scenario I’m earning about 25 Units from high school stuff (2 AP and 3 IB). Think I’m ready for 53, especially when the alternative is 1B, which apparently is unnecessarily difficult. Excited for Fall, Go Bears, etc…

Side-note: College of Engineering Pre-Engineering Program… expand if you please.

Grade: Freshman
College: College of Chemistry
Major: Chemistry

Classes:
Chem 4A (Phase I) – 4 units
Chem C96 (Phase I) – 1 unit
Math 53 (Phase I) – 4 units
Polecis 24 (Phase I) – 1 unit, freshman seminar
ESPM 50AC (Phase II) – 4 units, AC req

Units: 14

Notes: I’m really not sure what to take for the AC requirement. I’ve been looking at ESPM and various Linguistics and Anthropology classes but honestly I’m not particularly interested in any of them so I guess I’ll just have to pick the least unappealing that I can fit around my other classes. I also don’t know my AP Lit score yet (4 or 5 though), and if it’s a 4 I’m considering taking Linguistics R6 for the second half of R&C.

Grade: Freshman
College: L&S
Major: Econ/Stat/Haas - 2 out of 3

Classes:
Econ 100B (Phase I - prereq) – 4 units
ENG 31AC (Phase I - interest + AC req) – 4 units
Int Bio C82 (Phase I - breadth req) – 2 units
Stat 21 (Phase II - prereq) – 4 units
Astrom C10 (Phase II - interest) – 4 units

Units: 18

Pretty much set on this! I know it might not be advisable to do econ and stat in the same semester but I’ve gotten a rough gauge of the difficulty of econ from looking through the syllabus and lecture slides and realised I learnt a lot of it before, so at least I have a solid foundation to work on, so I’m not too worried. My main concern is statistics, I really need to do well for it.

Grade(at the time of taking the courses): Freshman
College: L&S
Major: pre-haas

Classes:
L&S C70U - Intro to Astronomy (4 units)
Psych 2 (4 Units)
Math 16A (3 units)
Asian American Studiest R2A (R&C req)
maybe adjunct course for math16A or a frosh seminar (1-2 units)

Unit Count:
15-16 units

Notes(if any): Planning to apply for Haas and i dont really have any back up majors right now! ANybody have any comments on the difficulty of my courseload…i heard from some people it seems to be too light -_- also, i need some insight on asian american studiest r2A - anybody taken it?

any comments on any course im taken is appreciated!!

Those who are planning to Phase II ESPM 50 AC should check whether the class is full or not. It’s a fairly popular class and I’m not sure if Phase 2’ing it will get it done. Just a heads up.
