Potential Internship Conflict...

Hello,

I'm in need for some advice, hopefully really quick! So, for the past two weeks, I've been using my university's internship search engine for Fall semester. I just got an email from the HR agent at a motion picture company asking me if I want to interview with them next week. But the thing is: I'm out of state.

I live in Washington, and this place is in LA. I figured since they were looking for Fall interns, now would be a good time to apply and secure one...but I didn't expect them to call back until after the posting deadline, since people will still be applying up to that date. I'm extremely happy that this opportunity is up for me, but I'm sad I wont be able to interview with them and lose the position. I wont even be in LA until around the first week of August. How should I respond to this? I was thinking of just writing them would I still be considered around they time I'll be there. I guess I can always apply for the semester of Spring when positions open up, too, and keep in touch with them during the meantime.

Any advice would be great! Thanks in advance.

Might I add in that I might ask if they can interview me through Skype…wonder if this would be okay…

Um… tell them your situation and ask them to re-schedule. Easy. I can almost guarantee you that they’ll accommodate you.

Reschedule or Skype. I’ve done a few Skype interviews and my dad Skype interviews people all the time for work since they are all over the world. It’s a lot more common than you think.

Okay…haha, thanks guys! I guess I’m really paranoid with this kind of stuff…

I did a Skype interview two years ago… it was a very interesting experience, actually!

Update:

I was able to reschedule an interview until I’m L.A., thankfully! Thanks for the replies, guys.
