Summer Dilemma

I'm currently a graduated high school senior hunting for some sort of internship or job that is remotely associated with business.

Don't get me wrong; I am not hunting for any goldman sachs internships or such because obviously I have no chance due to education and experience. I am just hunting for your local help-out-a-bit-with-data-entry-light-bookkeeping type or maybe grunt work internship or job.

I have been surfing hotjobs, craigslist, etc for opportunities, sending in my resume to so many places to no avail. I either receive no reply or a rejection. What should I do?

I am also not some sort of delinquent. I was valedictorian, top sat score, had a previous internship (integrated chip company so not related to accounting, and some more.

Is something wrong with my method? Is there anything else I could do other than send in my resume and hope for the best?

Well... you started out way too late. Who wants to hire an intern who can only work a month/month and a half? Most people who get internships start looking and applying well before the school year is out. In fact, I don't know a single person who got an internship- even at a local business or law office- after April.

You can keep trying but it's already July. Most people have already been in their internships for at least a month, and many 2 months. There aren't many spots left open.

Damn. I see. Well, would it be wise to start looking for an internship for the school year now or should I wait a bit more? I will go to college in Socal (I live in NorCal) late September.

I've gotten an internship at a bank two weeks ago; although that was due to connections. Yeah, bottom line is, find somebody or travel back in time.

I see, so would it be good to start looking for fall internships now?

Does your school allow you to do internships your first semester? That doesn't seem like the best idea. But, it may be possible to get a fall internship. From what I've heard though, a lot of those are also filled in the previous spring.

Unless of course you're taking about internships where you'd stay in the same city and continue going to school part time...you'd have to talk to an admissions counselor or academic adviser about those too.
