Hi, my current situation is that I am on my final academic probation this semester. Now I need to get my gpa over 2.0 along with having 13 credits this semester. I feel confidant that I will get my gpa over 2.0. But problem is that I want to drop the class that I am currently failing. So in doing so I will have less then 13 credits, which my adviser told me will get me dismissed regardless if I get my gpa over 2.0.

So what are options ounce I get dismissed? Have anyone been in this type of situation or know someone in a similar position? I was thinking about enrolling in a community college, what are some suggestions you guys have?

I was in almost exactly the same situation – on probation, needed to get my GPA over 2.0, and I had an opportunity to do so.

I declined the opportunity (for several reasons) and enrolled in a community college. The mere process of getting a spot in a class was rough at first because the community college is so impacted, but I kept petitioning (basically observing classes like a vulture, waiting for someone to drop so I could have their seat) and I got all the classes I wanted.

Your college is telling you that now is not the right time for you to be in school. The reasons don’t matter. It’s not the right time. Get a job for a year or two and come back later.
