I have an idea in mind for my extracurricular essay but I am not certain if it is too...inappropriate for the college application process? It makes a lot more sense in the context of my essay, which makes it a little difficult to delineate here. If anyone has time I would really appreciate feedback!

Depends on the idea and just how controversial the subject is. Colleges like to see if you are passionate or have a strong opinion on something, but not to the point where you criticize or insult the other side of the issue. After all, the admissions officers are only human, and though they will try to read your essay with an open mind, they will draw a line in an essay that is too… well… you get it.

You can write your essay and email it to a private account (I think they have one on this website) where a professional will read your essay and comment on it. Or you can ask your guidance counselor and teachers what they think. Just write it, for the sake of writing, and go on from there.

Hope this helped. :)
