PPL applying to Stanford.

I called stanford today and asked if they recommended taking the new SAT 1. The guy replied "Starting this fall , we pretty much require that you need the new SAT 1 to apply." So those of you applying this fall as sophomores, get ready to take the New SAT 1 as well as two SAT 2 subject tests-Math 2 and another of your choosing. And the second subject test you take basically cannot be Math 1(Thats what the guy told me). Just wanted you guys to know. Good luck.

Just to make sure, you asked if transfer applicants needed to take the new SAT right?

^^^ yeah coz by the sound of it that looks like an advice for freshman applicants

yeah i asked about transfer applicants. Everytime i call i start my conversation with "I will be applying this fall as a sophomore student. I want to matriculate into my junior year at Stanford." So he definitely knew. I'll call them again right now to check though...

do call em and let us know...anyways if we take the SAT in college to Up the scores a bit it wont look somewhat unimpressive right???as SAT's are high school tests....

Anyways does anyone have any idea about the transfer courses approval thing....do all the stanford approved courses transfer if we get in.

I just got rejected off the waitlist from stanford yesterday :( ... its brutal. They said they filled up their transfer class. Good luck though, if anyone needs any advice you can PM me.

Ok i called again 30 minutes ago and left a message. The guy called me a minute ago and said 'Yes.Starting this fall, we are requiring the New SAT for transfer students.' I asked,'Even for students applying as sophomores?' - and he said "Yes." So unfortunately, we're going to have to take it.

arch- i'll be pm'ing you shortly.Have a couple of questions.

I just realized that I already took the new SATs...although I doubt I will apply to Stanford ever, it's good that I would still have a shot. The SATII requirement, or recommendation, is kinda stupid but oh well. Thanks for following up DUDE.

well, I guess I can scratch out Stanford on my list of prospective transfer schools.

thx for the info btw, saved me $$

Yeah for real...but what if all of the other schools do that too?

Wait... so even though I'll have spent two years in college, they'll still want me to take the new SAT? Even though I'll be tranferring into a class that didn't have to take it?

And aren't SATs are designed to gauge how you'll do in college? So why would they even want my SAT scores if I've already been in college?

Hm well I may just end up not applying to Stanford...

Yeah i'm in the same situation as you. I'm transferring into a class that had to take the old SAT. But Stanford said we have to take the new one.

Then I'm definitely not transferring to Stanford. That's ridiculous.

Yeah, it's their loss. It really is.

Did you call any other schools with that question?

vcoleman- i dont think you should worry about any other school. Stanford is probably the ONLY school with this policy lol.
