Would memorizing the Princeton Review Hits parade vocab and Direct Hits Volumes I and II vocab be sufficient for the upcoming PSAT/SAT later on? Or should I use something else to supplement it? Aiming for atleast a 700

Also, am I just crazy or is DH volume I worht 100 bucks? I looked on Amazon the new copies started at 100 bucks.

Yeah BN is offering free shipping for a total of $25, so I’ll by both there for a total of like $26-27.

But you guys know of anything vocab lists I should know/memorize for the best score possible? I mean I’ve heard some books aren’t as great as others.

Try to look around more, and you should see Direct Hits books that are worth around 12~15 dollars each (forgot the exact prices). I’ve never tried the Hit Parade, nor have I read much reviews about it. But I’ve heard it’s good.

The Princeton Review’s hit parade is fantastic! you don’t need to memorize it all, though. Look into memorizing roots, prefixes, and suffixes because no matter how many words you memorize, you will always run into the one you don’t know!

When taking the PSAT I found that the Hit Parade List was pretty handy. I knew several of the words and aced all of the sentence completion questions (I got a little lucky too). Direct Hits is known to be really good, so study both lists and you should be good to go!

So memorize roots? The like 4 pages full of em after the vocab? Thanks, though oddly PR just says before it that there is no point in memorizing roots, just ‘knowing’ them. Oh well lol.

But thanks, I needed tips like this.

Any idea on how many words DH has in each list? Or at least the combined lists?
