PR Prep Courses .. will they budge on tuition?

I'm 99.9% sure PR won't budge on their tuition fees.
My parents are planning on haggling with them, and they refuse to pay for the course (~$1300) unless they get a $150 discount (the Labour Day one, which doesn't even apply for my course). Honestly, I don't understand why they're not willing to pay an extra $150 since they're always pushing for me to get a SAT teacher.

Do my parents actually have a shot at saving $150, or should I start looking for a job to pay for this?

It doesn’t hurt to try to get the discount I guess. The worst that can happen is that they say no, and then you’ll just have to pay the full tuition instead.

Depending on how you’re currently scoring and your ability to self study, you may be able to simply study on your own with the help of a few study guides. Enrolling in a SAT course that requires you to get a job in order to pay for it seems a little excessive.

You don’t need an SAT prep course. Everyone on this site that scores high (or almost everyone) self studies.

Tell your parents to save … the $1,150 they will be wasting.

don’t do PR! I took it. Didn’t help AT ALL. I honestly didn’t even raise over 100…it was all my own work.

I still need to call them and get a refund or get some kind of credit. That 200 pt. guarantee didn’t even happen either. Terrible prep company. I did the classroom course, but I have become a firm believer in self prep OR get a buddy who has 2250+ to help you out (he or she will cut to the chase, give you the advice you need, and get you started on self prep…these course instructors will waste your private tutor hours teaching basic, pointless stuff that you can learn on your own in a fraction of the time).

I’m scoring around a 2100 on good days, 1960 on bad. I’ve already bought and read all the books recommended on CC: Barrons, Grubers, PR, DH, done all the BB practice tests, and reviewed all the study guides.

Honestly, I want to take the PR course just as last ditch attempt, and if my score doesn’t improve, I would probably ask for a refund. One of my dad’s friends recommended the instructors to me though (her daughter scored ~2100 before PR and 2300 after).

Viggy, please PM if you do end up getting a full refund/credit!

^will do. I have told my mom for so long to call and get a refund or something but she still hasn’t. I think I’m just going to do it myself and see what happens.

Ugh. The people at PR signed me up for the wrong course. I asked them three times if it was SMALL GROUP tutoring, and they said yes. They signed me up for ULTIMATE CLASSROOM. WHAT?!?!

Does anyone know the difference between these two? The only thing I care about is whether or not they use the same tutor (apparently, they use the best for one-on-one and Small Group tutoring).
