Practical to transfer?

I'm going to be a sophomore this year at Miami University. It ranks top 20 in several surveys as far as undergraduate business school goes, but it is by no means a target. I am a finance and accounting double-major with a 3.71, lots of involvement with our investment banking club/fund, training the street modeling programs, and Bloomberg certification. I am well networked with finance professors here and a couple of bankers at MM firms in Cleveland and Chicago. I have close friends going to GS, MS, and Deutsche Bank this summer. I am very familiar with financial modeling for valuation purposes, and have worked on a couple projects of my own in that area.

I want to break in so badly though that it makes me want to transfer. I want to transfer halfway through this year to a target school just to improve my chances. But I'm not sure if I am better off staying here... I think that I have a solid start at Miami and that if I transfer, I could ruin some of what I built.

What do you guys think? I'm just trying to gain more perspective on this to help make a decision. Thanks for any comments.

There’s no point in transferring unless you transfer to a top 20 school.

Seeing as you have connections in a lot of MMs and even BBs, you could just network your way in. You’re doing all the right things. Tough choice depending on where you transfer

Do any BBs recruit from Miami?

I don’t know of any BBs that actively recruit from Miami. I would transfer if you get into a top 15 school, which you have a good chance of. Your strongest connections will carry with you.

Xpt: No, BB’s do not recruit at Miami. Only middle market such as Key… PNC recruits here also.

But top 20? Which schools would you suggest? Are U of Michigan and Indiana considered top 20 for i-banking recruitment? I have emailed several ivy leagues and it doesn’t even seem worth the time trying to transfer… they have such small acceptance rates for transfers. I emailed Princeton and asked if they planned on taking transfers within the next 2 years and they emailed me back… all the admissions officer said was “No.” haha

Thx for the advice though… Idk if it’s practical or not but it’s something i’m considering.

Transferring into Ivies is practically impossible, some of them don’t even accept transfer applications. I think the only exception would be Cornell. U Mich easily makes the top 20 list, and Indiana I believe makes it towards the end.

Some schools to consider may be,
NYU
Cornell
BC
U Mich
Georgetown
Duke
Northwestern
