Here
s the deal: due to special circumstances it looks like I will have to register for 5(!, gasps, oh noes) classes during my first ever semester at Duke. So what I would like to know is which are some of the easiest (preferably least time-consuming, with only 1 or 2 classes per week) courses that I could take to fulfill my SS-H 1 requirement. I honestly wouldn
t normally actively search for the easiest class to take, but seeing as I will probably be taking 5 classes during my first semester in college, I wanted to avoid any struggles. I would love to take Introductory Psychology for example, but I think it doesn´t fulfill the SS-H requirement (am I mistaken?). I was thinking about taking a foreign language course (that would probably be hands down the easiest class for me to take), but they all seem to have like 4+ classes/week. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Sociology, I’m not 100% positive that all soc classes fulfill the SS requirement but personally, the ones I looked at did. Plus soc classes aren’t very difficult.

On the other hand, what is this special circumstance (if you don’t mind me asking) that absolutely necessitates an overload the first semester? This is highly discouraged (if not disallowed outright) as I’m sure you probably already know. Before you jump the gun the do that, have you talked to the deans (especially Dean Connie Simmons)? Finally I don’t think you can register for 5 classes right off the bat, you might need to wait until all 3 registration windows have opened before enrolling in the fifth class.

I thought you could only register for 4.5 1st semester.

I thought only 4.0 for Pratt.

Definitely 4.5, that applies to everyone regardless of trinity or pratt.

Blue Book states that you can only register for 4.5 credits 1st semester and 5 credits in subsequent semesters. I don’t know if you can somehow get 5 credits.
