Pray for New Orleans!

CC Family:

Please pray for or at least keep in mind the city of New Orleans and its surrounding areas.

The monstrous hurricane this is heading their way (Hurricane Katrina) is a historic and potentially catastrophic storm that is irresfutably bound to inflict devastating winds and rains on the area.

As it stands now, Hurricane Katrina packs winds of 175 mph, making a category 5 (maximum) hurricane, with wind gusts reaching above 200 mph.

The National Hurricane Center (NOAA) predicts that the majority of the city will experience unprecidented damage, and that the below-sea level region will be under water for weeks.

I was just in touch with a friend of mine in New Orleans who is Princeton-bound for the Class of 2009. She has evacuated to the state of Mississippi, but has left behind her home and belongings. There are millions just like her.

Yeah, I've been thinking about the '09ers in the LA-MS-AL area a lot today. I hope everyone's made it out safely with as much as they could! You're in our thoughts.

This needs bumped up- not just for the students we know, but for all the people affected by Katrina :(

Bump Bump Bump

Oh yea, I hope those guys are alright through the night and tomorrow.

Good luck!

prayers for those who are going to lose all their material goods and those who will lose their lives

Bump.

Good News: New Orleans is still standing on the face of the planet.

Bad News: The whole city is submerged under 15 feet of water and there is flying debris everywhere. Trees re knocked downas far as the eye can see, as well are power lines. The Superdome's roof has apparently been torn off and there are sporadic reports that multiple oil rigs in Louisiana have floated out to see, taking as much as 5% of our country's oil supply with them.

The entire Gulf Coast will be in my prayers tonight, as well as I hope in the prayers of the entire CC community.

It doesn't look good from what I'm reading in the nytimes. Hope everyone and everyone's are alright.

I know, I've watched some videos, and it's horrible seeing the huge lines of traffic with tons of people simply walking along the interstates carrying pillows and such trying to make it to safety .. may god help them all

The hurricane is totally horrible no doubt. (They might have gone a tad overboard yesterday with predictions of this being "America's Tsunami" and "1 million people homeless") But I cannot help but laugh at the TV news reporters who are out in the middle of these storms. You know what I am talking about. What kind of dumbass would take that job?
