i am doing several college visits in the coming month, where i have some "on campus interviews"

i wanna confirm that these are different than the ones they use as part of ur app eval?

what is the purpose of this type of interview and how can i prepare etc? (or do i need to prepare?)

what does the college record/do with this?

thanks!

There are two different types of interviews: informational interviews and evaluational interviews. Informational interviews are for you to just ask the interviewer questions about the school and to find out more. In evaluational interviews, your interview will actually evaluate your performance in the interview. On-campus interviews can be either one. The on-campus interview I had at Swarthmore was evaluational. The interviewer interviews you, and afterwards he/she fills out a short report about you. Some ways to prepare are to have some questions that you really want to find the answer to but couldn't on the college website, and to have mock interviews with your parents. Interviews generally aren't very important in the admissions decision.
