I am an aspiring freshman Comp Sci major, and was wondering about the rigor of taking Pre-Calc and Trig at the same time. I'm fairly competent at math, but I am kinda nervous about taking 5 credit hours of it. So basically my question is, would it be a bad idea/overly difficult to take them both at the same time?

Take them both, it’ll be fine. In a lot of respects, they go hand in hand. In high school, my pre-calc. class was combined with trig and it was super easy. Probably more difficult in college, but I still wouldn’t worry about it.

Yeah, they go hand in hand, so you might as well take them together.

If you’re going for the B.S. in Comp Sci, you’ll be required to take up to Calc 2 for your degree- and to stay “on track” you have to pass it by the end of your fourth semester. So if you don’t take pre-calc and trig together, you may end up actually behind in your major. http://www.academic-guide.fsu.edu/computer_science_bs.html

If you’re going for the B.A. in Comp Sci, it looks like you only need College Algebra and the Intro to Statistics class. http://www.academic-guide.fsu.edu/computer_science_ba.html
