njoy im planning on doing the same thing. except i am skipping trig and precalc.
i did really well in college algebra. i just feel like taking precalc and trig is wasting time. i’ve heard mixed answers about going straight to calc… just like on this thread…

i know some people who go to UCLA and did poorly in calc because their trig was bad…some passed but it was a stressful course because the lack of trig. but, i also know someone that did not take trig and did very well in the class…but he went to office hours every other day lol so idk. i think taking the trig would be a good idea, but if you didnt want to take trig or pre calc…i think youll be seeing a lot of your professor in office hours. goodluck nonetheless im happy to know im not the only doing it out there lol

is trig at your school uc transferable? i know mine isnt… main reasons i dont want to take it

When i attended UCSB as a freshman they made us take a math placement test. I placed into Calculus 1 for scientists/engineers without ever taking precalc. In highschool the highest math i went up to was Algebra2/Trig. The first day i was terrified because i didn’t know what e or ln was because i never took precalc. By the end of the class I ended up changing my major to math and did fine in the rest of my math classes. All you really need to know for calculus is algebra tricks and some basic trig.

this is pretty relieving : )

but yeah trig and pre calc arent uc transferable only csu. but im willing to take trig because i know ill need it for calc one, i just realllly dont have the time to fit in pre calc! so oh well hopefully i save money, while doing well in calc 1 :)

how did everyone do in stats btw? lol
