Hi!
Could anyone look at my stats and tell me what my chances of getting into the pre-dental scholars program at Marquette are? I'm in a very good spot with Dartmouth and their admissions, but the price of that school is a little bit tough to justify for me, especially if I want to do dentistry in grad school. Here are my stats:

SAT I (Practice grades)
Verbal 650
Math 700
Writing 690

SATII
Biology M 730
US History 660

AP
US History- 5
Biology- 5

ACT (From practice tests)
English 33
Math 31
Reading 33
Science 32

My senior year courses are also the hardest I can take at the school and I have a bunch of honors and some AP classes (All honors and AP senior year except pottery, also with the Matteo Ricci program). My accumulative is a 3.82, with my most challenging year finishing with a 3.92. My science GPA is a 3.89.

My extracurricular stuff looks like this - 18 hours of rowing a week, high scoring in that (6th at nationals, 2nd at Head of the Charles), about 200 service hours and those are extremely varied (therapeutic riding, food bank, a camp for handicapped kids, local parish, retirement home), as well as being on the recruiting team at school and placing at state (3rd) freshman year.

You have very good stats, but it will really depend on the field that applies. I would concentrate on the essay, and showing your interest in attending the school by contacting admissions office and visiting / touring the school. Good luck!

You will need real scores on the SAT/ACT before anyone can give you a real answer. Practice tests don’t always correlate to real scores. Let us know when you get them.

You will probably very likely get in assuming your act score is around 30 or so. it is a pretty good program, definitely worth it in every way. the best part about it is that there is really no difference between the program and just getting a normal undergraduate degree, and if anything you have to try less hard than anyone else. are you planning biomedical science or biology as a major for it?

I scored a 31 all over. I have a few more leadership things now too and will be shadowing starting Tuesday. I’ll be over in Milwaukee in January and will meet with the program coordinator. I’m planning on doing a bio major with quite a few business classes, and philosophy because I’m doing Matteo ricci at my high school right now.

Yea, its a great plan and everything but you only get to write down 12 things so if you already got 12 nobody will know or care how much more you did. Also, do whatever you want, but you will probably be wasting your time in business classes, as they wont really teach you how to be an entrepreneur. also, make sure wherever you go you have fun, and i mean like a lot of fun. looks like all you do is stuff to beef up your record as an outstanding student, but that is no fun. just chill every once in a while, have some fun do nothing every now and again or you will burn yourself out and hate every minute of college.

Yea it may sound like I’m just some stuck up kid who only studies but I also take a lot of time to have fun (I’m a rower which adds a lot of fun). Im thinking business because I want some experience in it, so like a semester. In terms of leaderships, it’s no giant stuff and for the most part it’s with people I’m friends with. But I do agree with you about having fun- I try to approach life with a laid back mentality without stressing out too much.

Hi, sorry to bump an old post but I would really like an opinion from someone who was accepted to MU Pre-dental scholars program. I have an ACT of 29, a 3.8 gpa with a 3.4 science gpa and I have several leadership activities including captain of my high school’s dance team and a SPARK mentor leader. If you need more info on my extra curricular involvement please let me know! But i would really like an opinion on whether or not you think I have a shot at getting into the program. Also I would love to hear how you like Marquette and how the science classes are. Thanks!
