wow this thread is old and people are still posting. haha.well i ended up going to ucla i’m still pre dent…in fact, im applying for the next cycle. based on my experience from doing summer school at both UCSD and UCLA and attending UCLA during the school year, there is a big difference in academic standards. The science classes Ive taken at UCSD which are equivalent to classes in UCLA’s physics series I found UCSD to be a lot lot easier and curves to be a lot lower. and its true, as long as you take the pre reqs, you can pretty much apply anywhere…

lamchops:
…um, pre-reqs to ucla dental are the same for most other dental schools. there are no “ucla pre-dent classes” that are required by ucla dental school. as long as you finish the required chem, bio, physics, and other recommended courses ANYWHERE (ucla, ucsd, other UCs), then you’re eligible for admissions to UCLA dental.

so, in terms of pre-requisites, you are misguided. there can be some advantages to attending UCLA since the dental school is right next door (research, volunteer opportunity via dental school, etc.), but generally speaking, a good DAT/GPA with solid letters of recommendation and some other extracurriculars (community service, something to distinguish you from all the other applicants) can get you into UCLA dental.
