Pre-law at Cal

Hi, I'm plannin on doin economics and political science maybe at Cal. I wanted to know whether it's very hard to get good grades in these subjects since a good GPA is important for law schools.

Also, is it tough to double major at berkeley since the workload is already pretty big?

Econ has a reputation at Cal for being tough. Poli sci isn't exactly creampuff, but it's not econ. I'd stick to poli sci if you're just grademongering.

And take all the Zook classes you can before the poli sci department eventually fires him.

Poli sci is pretty creampuffy if you avoid certain classes, but it is becoming less creampuffy.

Double majors are generally doable, besides in certain cases (say, EECS/ business). Which subject areas do you have in mind?

Also, in general, ask yourself why you're double majoring. I think many people do so for poor reasons, but there certainly are some good reasons to do it.

I wanna do economics and polisci double. Do u guys think it's a lot harder to get good GPA at berkeley than at USC?

If you want to go to law school don't double major. It helps you out NONE in the admissions process and only increases the chance you will get a bad grade.

How about 1 major with a minor?

Don't do anything just for law school. Odds are that you will change either your major, career goals, or both. Study something that you enjoy.

Polisci and eco r two subjects i enjoy the most. Is it a lot harder to get good grades at cal than it is at USC??

Anybody...?

Bump (10char)

Can sum1 answer my question?

I doubt it'll be that much harder to get good grades at Cal than USC. Econ is econ is econ...

Are subjects like econ and polisci graded on a curve?

Econ is usually curved, yes. Poli sci...depends. Most classes are usually not curved heavily, since the learning curve for most poli sci at the undergrad level isn't nearly as steep.
