I’m a rising senior looking to narrow down (or possibly add to if need be) my college list. I know I want to go to med school after undergrad for sure. Obviously Johns Hopkins is known for it’s medical school, pre-med program, clinical research, internships, etc. etc.
However, I have a passion for physics, mechanics, astrophysics, calculus, etc. I know that physics is a viable major somebody applying to med school, granted that they take the other classes on the path. I also know high level physics can really help in o-chem, and it really, really helps on the MCAT.
My question isn’t whether it’s advisable to do physics with pre-med (I know a lot of people say it kills your GPA). My question is, do a lot of people do this path at Hopkins? Is Hopkins’ physics program renowned? Other schools I’m looking at, such as Yale, Princeton, Stanford, Berkeley have outstanding physics undergrad programs… is Hopkins close to the same Caliber? Or is it really only the right fit for somebody who wants to do pre-med and a biology or psychology, etc. major?
