When filling out applications, I am wary of citing the I wish to become a pre-medical student. Are students who indicate pre-med held to a higher standard than say non pre-med biology majors? Do you think it hurts my chances to indicate pre-med?

I haven’t heard that they are, particularly if there’s no academic “pre-med” program, with admissions. I think most schools just ask because pre-med students get a different advisor.

No. Colleges know that in general students will change their major at least two times while in college. Unless one is applying to a specific program – such as a 6-year medical school one or to a special school like a nursing school that’s part of a college, colleges aren’t going to be holding you to a higher standard.
