Hey everyone. I'm trying to figure out if Pre-med programs in College is based on some sort of application basis. Do you have to go through some sort of special admissions where they check your transcript, SAT scores etc?

Need to clear up a huge misconception here for you. There is no such thing as an official "pre-med" program. People go to college for a BA or BS. The major is inconsequential. However, Medical schools require a certain suite of undergrad coursework and MCATS.

Individuals who take those classes are preparing themselves for requirements later and are therefore taking a "pre-med" track.

Your college counselor staff can guide you on what's required. Anyone who wants to take the classes is eligible for it.

Obviously, you want to perform exceptionally well in these core science courses. There are many more applicants than spots any given year for entering Med schools -- just because one applies doesn't mean one gets into a med school.

HTH
