My D attended a medical academy in high school that was very science intensive, 2-3 sciences per semester/year. She is now a Freshman in college and is considering majoring in Art and minoring in Bio and/or Chem. I have read information and posts that "any degree" is okay as long as you get the Pre-Reqs. Just wondering if there are many people out there that do this kind of diverse major? Just a little worried that it would be detrimental to have a "Art" major and that maybe she should major in the Science and minor in the Art.

I have a classmate who was a Fine Arts major. They paint really, really well. This summer, they did a research project that used their art skills - it was super-cool.

If your D can do well in art and maintain strong grades in science, that will be very impressive. She could support her application to medical schools by sending in a mini-portfolio or something like that. I think it would be very impressive.

I appreciate the insight.
